The Bethel Head Start Program is funded by Health and Human Service through the Community Action Organization of Erie County, Inc. It is a comprehensive, community based child development program for three to five year old children and their families.
Head Start is a family focused program and provides a comprehensive array of services. The program targets the health, education, and welfare of its participants that include nutrition, medical, dental, and social services involving child, family and community.
Head Start is based on the premises that all children share certain needs and children in particular, can benefit from a comprehensive developmental program to meet these needs.
At Bethel Head Start all classrooms are staffed with qualified degree teachers. We have twelve centers through out Erie County. We collaborate with Read to Succeed Buffalo and Buffalo Board of Education Universal Pre-K. The focus of these two collaborations is to further prepare children for kindergarten and to promote the necessary language, cognitive, and early reading skills. Read to Succeed Buffalo is available in five centers and also offers a six week summer camp.
